Deep Conditioning Your Extensions

Whether you wear extensions or wigs, it is a must to learn how to deep condition your extensions to keep them lasting long and looking great.
If you plan to spend the extra money on high quality human hair, such as Remy, Premium Remy or Virgin, it is imperative that you properly condition the hair on a regular basis to protect your investment. Once the hair is removed from the donor’s head, the hair no longer is provided with natural scalp oils that keep the hair soft and shiny. This makes the hair more prone to damage and breakage, especially is it has been colored and texturized.
Here is what you will need to deep condition your extensions:
* Deep Conditioning Oils (i.e. Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Argan Oil, etc.)
* Blow Dryer
* Plastic Bag (i.e. a product bag or a Ziploc bag)
* Wig Brush
Apply a generous amount of oil to the extensions paying special attention to the ends. Once you have added the oil to the hair, using the wig brush, brush the hair to ensure that each strand is coated with the oil. Place the extensions in your bag and use the blow dryer to heat the bag. Keep the blow dryer moving so you do not melt the plastic onto your extensions! Once you bag is thoroughly heated, allow the extensions to remain in the heated bag until it is completely cooled. Remove the extensions from the bag and shampoo the hair with a gentle or sulfate-free shampoo. Be sure to rinse the hair in LUKE WARM water only! Using hot water will remove ALL the oils from the hair.
Depending on how frequently heated appliances and/or styling products are used, how much the hair was processed and weather conditions, you may need to deep condition your hair more often than suggested however we recommend a good deep condition every month.
