Voluptuous Braid Outs

We have learned that “twist-outs’ create splendid spirals but what if you want to change things up and go for wonderful waves? Try a braid-out.
When it comes to natural ethnic textures, many times the hair is set so that textured patterns are more synchronized. This means that water, a gel or a setting lotion is added to the hair and the hair is placed in a specific pattern and allowed to dry. Once the hair has been thoroughly dried and taken down, the pattern remains.
In order to achieve the style pictured above, you will need to dampen, or apply a holding gel or setting lotion to the hair. If you want more length in the front, your cornrows will need to go from the front to the back, however if you want more length at the crown (as pictured), you will need to part the hair in the center and braid from the crown going downwards. Small braids will tend to have smaller waves however larger braids will give much larger waves. Be sure to twist or spiral the ends of your braids so the ends are not straight. Once the hair has thoroughly dried, gently remove the braids. If you like a more “controlled” look, do not separate the hair but if you are going for something more big and bold, you can use your fingers are a rat-tail comb to separate the waves.
If you plan to use human hair extensions, your style will still set correctly however if you plan to use synthetic extensions, you will need to blow dry your braids THOROUGHLY as the heat will be the only way to set the synthetic extensions.
